The Department of Commerce came into existence in the college along with the establishment of the college in the year 2004. The former Prin. S. M. Kulkarni and the present Prin. R. M. Devaraddi are the personalities who provided scope for the development of  this department. Number of faculties extended their service to enhance the strength of the department. Prof. S. S.  Deshmukh, Prof. Katti, Prof. B. B. Patil and Prof. R. A. Naik are the pioneer faculties who gave a special recognition to the department.

The department has successfully run the B.Com programme since ten years and has extended its wings to M.Com programme also from the year 2013. Department primarily focus on motivating students to learn and expose what they learn to the real world.  The department is well-equipped with commerce lab, computer lab with internet facilities through which students are exposed to the world of information technology. College library is also equipped with national and international journals, articles and books which provides wide exposure of knowledge to the students. The department contains 2,738 books which are of 5,64,337/- rupees worth.
Department organises various academic and co-curricular activities to enrich the thirst of acquiring knowledge in the students and also provides various opportunities to the students to develop their hidden talents.

At present the department is much more enriched with the well-qualified and trained faculties like Prof. R. A. Naik, Prof. A. P. Halageri, Prof. G. V. Kulkrni, Prof. B. A. Bamanale and Prof. M. S. Dharigoudar who are continuously striving to develop the overall personalities of the students to mould them into responsible citizens. As a result of all these efforts, the strength of commerce students has increased from 30 students to 485 students in the past 10 years.
